When I manually load the texture the problem goes away. There seems to be a little bug with the image-based Library textures in the Materials Parameters dialog -when an image based texture is dragged and dropped into the preview area, the color map needs to be loaded (it is not linked automatically.) That is what was creating the problem with the Maxwell preview and also the non-responsive shaded "reflective" sliders. I did actually have the FormZ directory set correctly. Thank you Ben! It is indeed a file path issue. Able to do this most of the time (including when you export to Maxwell, or active Fire) but there is something in your files, or formZ installation, that seems to be interfering with this normally transparent process. When the plugin is not told the correct locations of files by formZ, or if formZ itself cannot find them, the plugin is also forced to write out a copy to disk from the project's material buffer. It really sounds like formZ can't find your original texture maps, and so is writing them out of the project-embedded bitmap saved in the fmz file to disk.ġ) Do you have a folder called "formZ textures" inside your formZ directory?Ģ) Do you have a filepath set up to that folder in formZ? (Preferneces>File Search Paths) Click Save Log and save to your Desktop or other convenient location. Open the plugin Log (Select Extensions> Maxwell Render> Log).ģ. Attempt to render your project with Maxwell again (Select Display> Maxwell Render)Ģ. To help us investigate your problem, please send us your plugin Log after rendering.ġ. I am still experiencing misbehavior both in the "Shaded" Material type (sluggish sliders under "Reflection") and "Maxwell" Material type (preview not loading, even though I set the Maxwell Ref Path and enabled "search for missing bitmap textures.) I tested a bit more, and the "sluggish" slider behavior only happens when an image-based material is being displayed in the Materials Parameters. perhaps should follow up with FZ tech? Thanks Ben I wonder if I have a RAM allocation issue or corrupted install of the program. I did go ahead and set a Maxwell reference library path to "formZ textures' and enable the "search for missing bitmap textures." However my results are still erratic and the entire materials manager is behaving very sluggishly- for example, in the "Shaded" representation in the Materials Parameters, just sliding the slide bars (Ambient Factor, etc) leads to a spinning ball for a few seconds and no result. Yes, I agree that would seem to be the reason. Make sure Extensions>Maxwell Render>Project Settings option "Search for Missing bitmap textures" is enabled.) Set a Maxwell reference library path to the 'formZ textures' folder.ģ. Make sure you have the 'formZ textures' folder installed within your 'formZ' folder.Ģ. (Things that may help with this issue in general:ġ. Drag the 'brick 04' material from the predefined area back onto the empty Maxwell preview. With the predefined textures, formZ sometimes does not report valid filepaths to the Maxwell plugin. Am directly sending a file that demonstrates the issue. I am starting to think that it has something to do with the image map not loading into cache. (Or please post a file with a sample material) Which material taken directly from the FormZ materials library? I'm NOT having this problem previewing Referenced MXM's, just Translate Shaded MXM's (of materials taken directly from the FormZ materials library.) I hit the "Preview" button and it shows the white checkerboard table and black background but is empty, no preview material is there. I'm using the latest versions of FZ & and the Maxwell plug-in and for some reason, I can't get the material preview to work in Material Parameters palette when displaying a "Translate Shaded" Maxwell material type. No preview for "Translate Shaded" Material Type "Maxwell" in Material Parameters
